Notes: Greater Demon that was used previously will change to Higher Demon due to the confusing term between Great Demon (race) and Greater Demon (rank). There is also an update that the chapter will be released on UTC +0 00:00. There will be some errors to schedule the release in novelupdates, so please give us some time to work around it.
Reka had reached the later stage of Intermediate Demon 15 years ago, and he was one step before reaching Higher Demon. Yet, he had been stuck at this last step. For that reason, he trained everywhere, and he even joined the arena. He had been triumphant, and he became the king of Intermediate Demon in the arena.
After becoming the King of Intermediate Demon in the arena, Reka began to change mentally as time passed. On the one hand, he enjoyed the support and generous rewards. On the other hand, a thought was breeding in his mind after several unsuccessful attempts to achieve Higher Demon. That was the fear of failing again, and the fear of losing the prestige and money that he had now. What’s more, even after breaking through to Higher Demon, he would need to face terrifying forces like Arux. The chance of survival was less than 10%.
Arux was quite belligerent. The number of Higher Demon in the arena had always been small, so no one dared to challenge him basically. Therefore, Arux would arrange mandatory matches from time to time. If his opponents could endure up to the specified time limit, they would be heavily prized; if not, they would be killed on the spot. That was certainly a way to promote improvement, but it also caused panic at the same time.
Ever since the last remaining Higher Demon in the arena died in Arux’s hands 4 months ago, the battles of Higher Demon had paused.
Under the influence of these overall factors, Reka gradually weakened in his pursuit of victory at all costs. Instead, his laziness increased. 20 days ago, Arux specifically appointed Reka to deal with No. 64. Subsequently, he met the Karon Family’s Mikas. Under the Mikas’s invitation, Reka finally made up his mind to leave the arena and join the Karon Family after participating in this last battle.
However, he encountered No. 64 who was a monster in his battle. Reka was best at his power and endurance. Yet, it was nothing in front of his opponent. Besides, his opponent had a terrifying speed. If this continued, he wouldn’t have any chance to win.
Reka once defeated opponents who were evenly matched or even above his actual strength. If it were the Balrog five years ago, he would have fought with his life without fear. However, the current Reka had lost his fighting spirit and courage that he had before.
“It seems that I have to return those words to you. Are you ready to die?” The hoarse voice behind the mask sounded, making Reka’s heart even more scared. He screamed and took the initiative to punch.
However, Chen Rui could tell that that punch was only strong in appearance but weak in reality. He reached out his hand and grabbed Reka’s fist.
As he approached, Reka lowered his voice and said, “I am part of the Karon Family! You dare to kill me? Aren’t you afraid of offending the Karon Family?”
Chen Rui paused, then he suddenly twisted Reka’s fist. He turned his body, throwing Reka away and shouting, “It seems that you’ve already known that Alan threatened me to deliberately lose to you!” You truly make me very disappointed!”
Chen Rui was really disappointed. He initially wanted to find an opportunity to break through the bottleneck in this battle. Unfortunately, he was facing an opponent who lost his fighting spirit. Even if he was stronger, he was only a soulless body; he didn’t qualify as a whetstone.
Almost everyone in the arena heard Chen Rui’s loud voice using Star Power. The audience were discussing; most of them looked furious and agitated at once. Royce sneered while Arux’s gaze suddenly became fierce, looking at Alan’s face at the side like a sharp knife. Even without looking directly, Alan could feel the needle-like tingling feeling. His face was alternating between blue and red. Eventually, he couldn’t sit still anymore as he stood up. He couldn’t wait to tear the masked figure in the field into pieces.
Aguile! Fucking dick! Not only he didn’t fake losing, but he even revealed everything in front of everyone!
Alan’s behavior further confirmed that Aguile was telling the truth; Arux murderous vibe was even more.
Demons respected the true strongman, and they deeply hated these cheating behaviors. Almost all the audience was shouting, “Kill him! Kill this coward!”
Chen Rui didn’t hesitate and rushed toward Reka. Reka was shocked as he never would’ve thought that his opponent would have the courage to ignore the Karon Family and reveal the matter publicly. He didn’t have the courage to continue battling, and he ran toward the VIP seats, wanting to seek protection from Alan.
Chen Rui leaped and glimpsed at Royce and Arux at the VIP seats. A weird light flashed in his eyes as he extended his right hand and spread his 5 fingers. He shouted, “Reka! Your time has come!”
A white light ball with about 2 diameters was launched from the palm of his hands. Chen Rui’s body that was leaning forward in the air also flew backward due to the huge forward momentum of the light ball, then he slowly landed on the ground.
As Reka turned back, he was terrified when he saw the white light ball. At the brink of death, his instinctive reaction after training for so many years came into play. He desperately used his last remaining strength to teleport and avoided it at the last second.
<Aurora Shot>’s force didn’t diminish and charged toward the VIP seats at high speed. At that moment, even Alan’s face had changed.
In the blink of an eye, Arux’s figure appeared in front of the light ball. He reached out his left hand to face the light ball. However, at the moment the light ball touched his hand, Arux’s body trembled; he immediately reached out his right hand quickly to hold with both hands.
Arux felt the mysterious destructive power of the light ball; the fire in his red pupils were blazing. He snorted and spread his hands open. The <Aurora Shot> was torn into two halves. The white light residual also gradually disappeared in his hands.
Arux was surprised to see the slight cuts on his palm that was slowly healing. The fire in his pupils gradually went out, but the heat was not reduced. He stared in surprise at Chen Rui in the field.
Since Chen Rui was able to shout out Reka’s name when he used <Aurora Shot>, the blow toward the VIP seat could only be seen as an accident. Of course, only someone knew in his heart whether it was truly an accident.
Many people saw clearly that the moment Arux tore the light ball apart, a huge amount of cracks appeared in the fan-shaped area on the ground behind him. That showed how much pressure he had borne just now.
Chen Rui was secretly shocked. Other than the poison dragon, it was the first time he saw someone who could resolve his ultimate move with bare hands. Besides, Arux still hadn’t used his demonic fire to enhance yet. It seemed that if he didn’t break through the Alkaid state, he would be no match at all.
The power of <Aurora Shot> made Reka who dodged using teleportation horrified. When he just took a breath of relief, he saw a tall figure blocking in front of him. The sharp eyes were as murderous as if it were real.
“Sir Arux…” Reka’s body stunned, then his trembling voice stopped.
Arux snorted and ignored Reka. He walked forward; by the 5th step, Reka’s body suddenly fell apart and scattered on the ground while his blood spread quickly.
Almost no one at the arena saw how Arux killed Reka, including Chen Rui.
“Cheater, dies!” Arux didn’t look back at Reka’s body. He looked at Chen Rui who had put on a new set of cloak. “This game, No. 64, Aguile wins!”
When they heard the name of No. 64 reported personally by Arux, the audience got up and echoed. Aguile, the new king of Intermediate Demon in the arena!
Alan was furious; he turned and left. Najib who was standing behind him was dumbfounded.
Alan was really irritated. This time, not only did his huge bet was gone, but Reka, who had initially joined the Karon Family was also killed by Arux. The most awful thing was that Aguile actually dared to reveal his threats before the game publicly. His reputation was completely lost; he would always be ashamed to step foot into the arena ever since.
Chen Rui didn’t feel complacent from the audience’s cheers. Instead, he still felt regretful. In fact, when he was fighting head-on with Reka previously, he already had the inspiration of faintly touching the next realm. That was something that couldn’t be achieved in the training room. However, as Reka’s willpower collapsed causing the battle quality to drop sharply, the inspiration disappeared. He couldn’t find it at once.
Soon, the long-lasting cheers of the audience were suppressed by a gold iron-like strange voice, “Aguile, you are still far from being my opponent. For your subsequent whetstone, you need to find it yourself. You still have about a month left. I am looking forward to beheading a true strongman personally by then.”
The arena that was full of cheers previously was silent suddenly. Even Royce on the VIP seat was moved inexplicably.
Arux’s words made everyone’s face looked shocked, especially the dark elf, Jesse and the people from the Cloak Gang.
Aguile’s opponent after a month is actually Arux! The owner of the arena! He’s also likely to be the strongest Higher Demon in the entire Dark Moon!
No matter how difficult the previous battles were, they were just battles between Intermediate Demons whereas Higher Demon was a huge difference in terms of rank. No one had ever heard that someone could overcome the rank difference and defeat an opponent. Even if Aguile could rank up within 1 month and became Higher Demon, he would still be incomparable against Arux as 4 months ago, a Higher Great Demon of middle-stage didn’t even stand for 10 minutes in the hands of Arux!
Regardless of the outcome after a month, Aguile’s legendary battle in the arena would be the most heated topic in the Dark Moon Estate after the Master Challenge and the Sky Battle.
Royce’s calm eyes were flickering with a strange spirit. Arux invited him to come before this to watch a pleasing battle. From the performance on the arena, No. 64 who was full of potential was indeed good. He wanted to recruit Aguile initially, but never he thought that Aguile would be Arux’s target! Should I convince Arux to give up? Or should I have examined further first?
“I am also looking forward to becoming the new owner of the arena.” Chen Rui took a deep breath and walked back to the preparation room without looking back.
Royce’s gaze moved; his curiosity was increased: This Aguile isn’t simple. He can actually still be calm. Where does his confidence come from?
Under awe of the entrance guards, Chen Rui didn’t meet up with the old dwarf and others, but he went straight out of the arena.
However, in an alley not far from the arena, he was blocked by someone.
“Aguile!” A teeth-clenching voice sounded. Chen Rui had already heard this trash-talking voice in his human identity a lot, so he could call out the other person’s name with his eyes closed: Alan!
“Sheriff Alan, as I said, I’ll make sure you’ll be satisfied. How do you feel now?” Chen Rui sneered, but he was looking at a Great Demon beside Alan.
This Great Demon only had one eye; the other was covered with an eye-patch. The <Analytical Eyes> showed, comprehensive strength: D!
Thanks for the chapter tnykt! Oof, a failing grade lol. That demon’s going to have to take some remedial classes to make up for that.
Wouldn’t want to run into a one-eyed D in a dark alley.
Lolololol! This is an amazing comment!
Thanks for the chapter
